14k Gold and 18k Gold (Gold Vermeil Plating)
You may have seen the term ‘vermeil’ (pronounced “ver-may”) on our website. Vermeil refers to thick gold plating on sterling silver jewelry. This denotes a range of 1 to 2.5 microns of thickness according to international standards - more thickness for that much more durability. It is the best high-quality and affordable alternative to solid gold.
We use 14k or 18k gold to plate our jewelry. The difference? 14k gold is more muted in color, more durable, and has a lesser percentage of pure gold. 18k gold is brighter in color and has a higher percentage of pure gold.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR GOLD VERMEIL JEWELLERY:
- Always remove your gold vermeil jewelry before exercising, washing your hands or showering.
- Apply perfumes, creams and hair care products before wearing your gold vermeil pieces.
- To clean gold vermeil jewelry, buff gently with a dry cloth.
- When not worn, store your piece in a safe, dry place to protect it from the elements of daily exposure.
925 SILVER
Ruuh uses sterling silver for every piece of jewelry. You may be wondering: why ‘sterling silver? Why not just silver?’
Although beautiful, silver in its pure form is too soft and malleable for making jewelry. Hence, fine silver is alloyed with copper to create sterling silver - 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. This copper makes the silver harder and more durable without compromise on the color. All pieces are stamped with 925 - the signature of hallmark sterling silver.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SILVER JEWELLERY:
- Sterling silver jewelry oxidizes when exposed to the elements, so remove silver jewelry before exercising, washing your hands or showering.
- Apply perfumes, creams and hair care products before wearing your jewellery
- To clean, polish gently with a 100% cotton cloth.
- Store in a safe, dry place when not worn.
Natural Gemstones
Our gemstones are the backbone of Ruuh. We use semi-precious, natural gemstones from Jaipur - the gemstone capital of India. Some of the stones are custom cut. Lapiz Lazuli, Rose Quartz, Labradorite, Moonstone, Amethyst, Citrine, and more.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR GEMSTONES:
To keep gemstones clean and shiny, scrub lightly with a soft-bristled brush, warm water and detergent-free soap.
Avoid chemicals or excessive temperatures when cleaning.
Store in a safe, dry place when not worn to protect them from the elements of daily exposure.
Pearls
You can never go wrong with pearls - a true classic. We use natural pearls that are carefully selected for our pieces.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEARLS:
Pearls are sensitive so treat them with care.
Avoid direct contact with chemicals found in perfume or other cosmetics.
Make sure they are the last thing you put on before going out and the first thing you take off when you come home.
